Zero Data Collection Commitment

YouTube Pop Out Video is built on a strict privacy-first architecture. We do not collect, track, store, transmit, or monetize any of your personal data, browsing history, or video viewing activity.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how YouTube Pop Out Video ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") operates with respect to user privacy. We are committed to transparency and respecting your digital privacy. This policy applies to the YouTube Pop Out Video Chrome extension and our landing page website.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

The Extension operates entirely client-side inside your local browser runtime. Specifically:

  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers.
  • No Browsing History: We do not track, log, or store URLs you visit or web pages you browse.
  • No Video Watch Data: We do not record what videos or Shorts you watch, how long you watch them, or your playback preferences.
  • No Keystrokes or User Input: We do not capture or log keyboard strokes or text inputs.
  • No Cookies or Fingerprinting: We do not set tracking cookies or create browser fingerprints.
  • No Analytics or Telemetry: We do not include third-party tracking scripts, Google Analytics, telemetry libraries, or advertising pixels.

3. Permissions We Request & Why

YouTube Pop Out Video requests the absolute minimum browser permissions required for its core functionality:

Permission Type Purpose
tabs API Permission Enables the extension to check the active tab URL to detect if a YouTube video is currently loaded when you trigger the pop-out feature.
storage API Permission Uses ephemeral chrome.storage.session memory to remember the open pop-out window ID so duplicate windows are not created when you click the button again.
activeTab API Permission Grants temporary, user-invoked access to interact with the active YouTube tab upon clicking the toolbar icon.
*://*.youtube.com/* Host Permission Allows the extension to inject the custom "Pop Out" button directly into the YouTube video player control bar and trigger Picture-in-Picture mode.

4. Local Session Storage

The Extension uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.session API exclusively to hold temporary in-memory session variables (such as popOutWindowId). This data is stored strictly in your browser's RAM, is cleared automatically when the browser closes, and is never transmitted off your computer.

5. Third-Party Services (YouTube & Google)

The pop-out player and Picture-in-Picture features interact directly with YouTube's HTML5 video player and web pages (hosted by Google LLC). Your use of YouTube's content and services remains governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our Extension does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. It complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements or regulatory changes. Any modifications will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
